Your Route to Sustainable Nutrition: Coaching for a Healthier You

At Route of Healthy Living, our mission is to teach individuals how to live a truly healthy life in a sustainable way—one that allows for flexibility and enjoyment, rather than rigid restrictions. We believe in the philosophy of "having your cake and eating it too" by focusing on adding to your everyday nutrition rather than exclusively taking away. This approach, known as "intrinsically eating," emphasizes what we can include in our diet to fuel our bodies effectively before considering what needs to be reduced or eliminated. After all, if we don’t understand what to eat more of, what good is simply removing certain foods?

Step One: Awareness Through Logging

Our nutrition coaching begins with learning how to log your food intake. This isn't about making immediate drastic changes; instead, it’s about bringing awareness to your current habits. By tracking your meals, we assess:

  • What you’re currently eating daily

  • The timing of your meals

  • How your body responds (e.g., hunger cues upon waking, afternoon energy crashes)

  • Lifestyle factors such as job duties and movement levels (weekday vs. weekend comparisons)

  • Current vitamin and supplement intake

  • Any other relevant biomarkers to discuss, such as bowel movements, menstrual cycles, etc.

To make this process even easier, we recommend using the 1st Phorm App as a tool to log your food intake and transition into tracking macros. This app helps simplify the ROUTE by providing accurate tracking and insights. You can access it here: Best Fitness App.

We don’t believe in overhauling everything at once—if we change too much too quickly, we won’t be able to pinpoint what truly works for you. Instead, we take a structured approach, understanding that trial and error is a natural part of the process. What works for one person may not work for another, and our goal is to find the most sustainable route for lifelong success.

Step Two: Learning to Track for Accuracy

Once we’ve established an understanding of your current habits, we transition into tracking macronutrients. At this stage, accuracy becomes key, and we introduce proper measurement tools like a food scale. As the saying goes, "What’s not measured, can’t be managed," and this principle is one of our core beliefs in nutrition coaching. By tracking properly, we can begin making small adjustments that lead to long-term results.

Step Three: Prioritizing Macronutrients AND Micronutrients

When we start tracking macronutrients, the real transformation begins. We guide you through prioritizing:

  • Protein – essential for muscle growth, satiety, and overall body function

  • Carbohydrates – your body’s primary fuel source

  • Fats – crucial for hormone balance and cellular health

But nutrition isn’t just about macros. Over time, we also emphasize the importance of micronutrients—vitamins and minerals that play a vital role in overall health, energy levels, and longevity. How we look is one thing, but how we FEEL and function each day is what truly matters!
